Presentation? As easy as pie!
University has made presentation services one of my most visited websites nowadays. But I can tell you for a fact, presentation is a great tool for better understanding. If you are going to present some information, telling everything by heart is not a good idea as a really small percentage of people will absorb this information. Most people have better developed visual memory, so pictures, videos and tables will be a good tool to make your audience absorb your information. And presentations can combine everything in one application. But which service is better? Well it’s a matter of taste and I am not telling you what you should do, but here you can read my honest opinion on some services. It’s not an advertising! (+ bonus at the end you can see my own presentations for some university subjects)
We all started with Power Point presentations and those tasteless templates. Well maybe someone wants to argue with me, but Excuse me, I have seen every shade of this templates since middle school and I am so fed up with them. Besides, people could remember only your tasteless pattern and not the information on it (on this sentence Microsoft’s sales are falling (just kidding👅)). Well, I do not lump everyone in one basket. You can surely create a perfect presentation with Power Point, but you know, you will spend a great period of time on it. But if you need to just insert some texts and pictures on slides, then Power Point Online and Google Slides are the best choice for you.
Using Power Point Online and Google Slides:
~ users can collaborate in real-time and save presentations in OneDrive or SharePoint or publish them (with Google slides);
~ users are provided with a familiar interface for those who are already familiar with the desktop version of PowerPoint;
~ as part of the Google Workspace suite, Google Slides integrates well with other Google apps like Google Docs, Google Sheets, and Google Drive. PowerPoint Online integrates with Microsoft 365 apps like Word, Excel, and OneDrive;
~ PowerPoint Online provides more advanced animation and transition effects compared to Google Slides.
~ PPO and GS support various file formats, including PPT, PPTX, and PDF.
Also there is an interesting software called Slideshare Scribd (but you may need VPN).
SlideShare Scribd isn't a presentation authoring software tool, but rather a free presentation sharing software tool. If you need to get your slideshow in front of a large professional audience, then this online presentation software is worth knowing about.
My preferences are Prezi Basic and Canva.
Let’s talk about Prezi first
Prezi offers an alternative approach to presentations by using a
zoomable canvas rather than slides. When I saw it for the first time, I was like: “Is
it a miracle?”. So it allows users to create dynamic and non-linear
presentations with zooming, panning, and rotation effects. However, a variety
of functions like downloading presentation and exporting PDFs are not free. It also
offers a range of templates, themes, and animations to enhance presentations,
but in free version they are limited. Moreover, Prezi supports collaboration
among team members in real-time.
Prezi is great and I use it occasionally, but my the most favorite one
is Canva!
Canva
First of all, it provides a vast library of elements, fonts, and images
to enhance presentations. You don’t need to search in Google for gifs, videos
or images, just search for it in Canva. There are more free templates in Canva
than in Prezi. A great variety of design elements such as icons, shapes, lines,
frames, is also provided, so you can design your presentation as you wish. But
it also has some subscription plans with access to premium content. Canva
supports collaboration, enabling users to invite team members to work together
on designs. It also allows for easy sharing and exporting of designs in
different file formats, such as JPEG, PNG, and PDF. (It’s not an advertising!)
So, that’s my opinion, and I’m interested in yours. What software do you use to create your magnificent presentations? Oh, I almost forgot about bonus! I have three presentations for you to look at:
1. In Google slides
2. In Slideshare
3. And in Prezi
Enjoy and see you all💕!
